Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend  Next Entry
Current location:not in my head
Current mood: still optimistic
Entry tags:dating, dialogue, hope, syd

Right here, right now

Me: I just wanted you to know that I'm outside again and it's amazing. Jealous?
Her: Yes.

Had to drop off something for a friend yesterday so grabbed Syd and dashed downtown.

Was all stressed cause I was supposed to be working but, as I made it crosstown, I got lost in the jumble that is the Lower West Side. It ended up a good thing as I slowed down a bit to take pictures and enjoy the weather.

Later that night, met up with the Blue-Eyed Girl for drinks in the one block radius around BJE's pad. It's weird when you revisit places and things from your past.

I'm trying to not live in the past or worry (quite) that much about the future.

It's harder than you might think - to be here, in the right-this-second and not stuck in your head.

Luckily, we both know I'm stupidly optimistic. Keep thinking my better day's right round the corner, y'know?

Time for work.

Music: there is no other place I want to be

This comment resonated with me- but mainly because I'm almost exactly the opposite. I live almost completely in the moment, so it's harder for me to stop and get in my head and figure out what motivates me to do and say the things I do. It makes for a life of few enemies and fewer friends. I suppose the grass is always greener and what not.

Just thought I'd finally comment, been lurking here since finding you through [info]jaerik.

Hi Mike - thanks for the comment.

I would say that the more you stay out of your head and in the life, the better off you are. I don't think I believe you when you say you've few enemies and fewer friends.

Any friend of Jaerik is a friend of mine.

Not to say that I don't have friends (or enemies!) but I definitely think it's harder to build those lasting relationships when you're always looking ahead. It takes a concentrated effort for me to build up a friend, rather like the guy with no long term memory. It's always about starting over the next day... On the flip side, I don't hold grudges for long.

Likewise on the friend bit.

Nice cafe. I've always dreamed of plotting the overthrow the free world in a cafe like that. Hence why I'm virtually certain Starbucks is a government conspiracy to stifle communism. Control the coffee and you control the world.

That was both strange and endearing at the same time.

Have an amazing weekend Ari!

"For a long time it seemed to me that life was about to begin - real life. But there was always some obstacle in the way, something to be gotten through first, some unfinished business, times still to be served, a debt to be paid. At last it dawned on me that these obstacles were my life. This perspective has helped me to see there is no way to happiness. Happiness is the way. So treasure every moment you have and remember that time waits for no one. Happiness is a journey, not a destination."

Father Alfred D’Souza's very wise words.

I seem to live them; at least now I do.

Luckily you enjoyed when your better day was right there. Repeat this once in a while.

That entry made me happy, thanks!

I will try and repeat this as often as I can.

And I'm glad I could make you happy.

I got lost last night, too. So lost. Strange city, strange language. Never been that lost.

I couldn't imagine being quite that lost.

Actually...check that. I could.

I could be wrong, but I thought that's what Zen monks/nuns try to do constantly their whole lives and still aren't completely successful. It's very difficult, you need to at least give yourself a little credit for trying.

Say, I'm going to get off my butt and mail that cross stitch to you. Same address that you sent me before?
