Yeah, I'm done, I'm good to go

Evidently, Harold's taken up smoking.

Y'know, you try to bring a houseplant up right, teach them the difference between right and wrong, and still...

----------

With nods to Rianessa and Constellajen for their emails and the Pretty Cake Decorator for all this cake/dough talk. And HEI.

Have you ever wanted, say, a donut? Like really wanted a donut? And you eat everything sweet in the house but nuthin hits the spot cause, even if you ate a Fondant au Chocolat from Le Cirque, you didn't get what you really wanted?

So then you get dressed, shlepp out into the cold and feel ridiculous because you're a 35 year-old dude out in Manhattan at 3AM looking for a whole wheat donut.

And when you arrive and they hand over that whole wheat donut, it's like you found Mecca. You down that bad boy, sigh, and think, Oh yeah, I'm done. I'm good to go.

That's my answer to alla you that keep asking me what I'm looking for. Something that I know I want but can't put inna words. I'm looking for the SING - the one of the 533 that fits into that something I can't put inna words.

No sweet lie, keep hoping that the Pretty Cake Decorator, or Heartgirl, or the Blue Eyed Girl, or someone ends up being her.

And Yes, I'd give it all up, the womanizing, the late nights, the randomness, like quicksilver on crack cause that's all justa placeholder for what I know what I really want. Nuthin else'll do, you see.

Every single time, I'm hoping that I can say, Yeah, I'm done, I'm good to go.

Man, I'm hungry.

----------

OK, enough sappy, administrative note: I'm gonna post in the mornings more cause I'm working 9-7 like the resta the world these days. Sigh.

Man, I don't know how you all do it.

No wonder Harold's taken to smoking.

Saa, yeah you can't tell your heart who to fall in love with. Mine at least is fantastically defiant. I think the trick is once you find your whole wheat donut accept that it is - in fact - your whole wheat donut and don't let her get away. Also, don't call her a whole wheat donut. Although if you do, video tape the reaction and send it to me.

As for Harold . . . how can you name your plants and yet still not be hopelessly mutually enamored with a similiarly crazy girl. This author I used to not hate once wrote "my parents treated their children with the same benevolent neglect they applied to their houseplants." Their houseplants apparently flourished. Dunno where you went wrong man.

Alton! I love a little Alton in the morning (and afternoon and evening) :) He's speaking at the NYC Wine and Food Festival in Oct if you're interested in tickets (link in one of my posts).

Aw... well if my friend decides not to help me stalk Alton, you'll be on my list of replacements. Seeing me drool over him might not be the best first impression ever made though :-)

My houseplants are terrified of me. They know that eventually they'll all die...some sooner than expected. Gotta love my non-existent green thumb.

Btw, never give up the late nights and the randomness. Those are the best things ever. Okay, not ever, but they sure come close.

They come close but I'll happily swap when the time comes.

I'm sure you'll swap...but I think the randomness will stay. Random is good.

As for work hours, try 730am to 10pm most weekdays with a 1.5 hour break somewhere there and an 8 hour shift on a Saturday or Sunday or sometimes both days. Makes me wonder how long I can keep this schedule up.

a whole wheat donut is not a real donut! but yeah, i know that craving you are talking about... currently i'm on a search for a friggin' blueberry scone. i had really good blueberry scones in new york at Payard, and have been thinking about them ever since. no one here makes scones, and those who do, don't make friggin' blueberry scones! i want...

Is too!

That does sound tough but maybe now's the time to learn how to make one - that's how I started making chili.

Are you using a camera phone to take pics at all the dinners/parties etc that you post on here? They look like pretty good quality but I can't imagine you dragging around a real camera.

Maybe you are limiting yourself by going whole wheat.

Maybe your woman isn't whole wheat at all.

Maybe she's the chocolate-covered one with the yummy cream in the middle. Maybe she's the one that's powdered white and filled with jelly... The one you wouldn't usually picture yourself with.

Maybe she's crossed your path before, but with your idealism, you never gave her the time a day.

Just maybe.

After 35 years, I've figured out what I like and what I want. So that's a plus.

Although I wouldn't turn down a yummy-cream-in-the-middle-chocolate-covered one.

Tell me if you see one that you can send my way.

I've always had a certain type I've desired. But, I've never found him. I ended up with a-holes instead. I'm not ready for him yet I suppose. I don't want to fall in love, again, until I'm older.

I'm sure you def. know what you want, I never thought any different! Imagine she finds you through your blog one day? ;-)

Well... I don't know many women. Most of my friends are men, I just get along with them better.

I actually work like 10:30-7:30, to be honest. Yes, it amazes me too.

I work 4P-3A every day almost... I dont know how I do it. But I'd love a 9A-7P shift. That's considered still having time to do stuff after work.

Ugh, I hate life. lol.
