Red rum on the rocks with a slice of orange / You awake?

Once again, I'm gonna ask you to send me soup.

Every time I go through these two week periods with little sleep and lots of work, I worry about getting sick. And then I get sick.

Dammit.

With nods to Sabatoa, Katsmw, Furison, and everyone who's asked me this in real life - I have this conversation almost every weekend:

Him: Nasty. Why rum?
Me: I like the taste of a good aged rum, like a Cruzan or Montecristo. Plus it's got the least amount of carbohydrates, acetaldehyde and congeners so you can drink buckets of the stuff and never get a gut, a hangover, or into a fight.
(pause)
Also, I like to pretend I'm a pirate - YAAARRRRRG!
----------

Her: (whispering) Are you awake?
Me: (sleepily) I'm always awake.

Not at all - every writer's glad to know that someone enjoys reading his/her stuff.

And sir? Way to make a boy feel old...

I'll forgive you though, if you keep reading. =)

I'm wearing an eye patch now - just looking for a parrot.

Try either Captain and Coke when you're out (I do diet coke myself to keep it at 0 carbs) or a Cruzan Single Barrel Estate Rum on the rocks with a thick slice of orange - it was the unanimous choice winner at the 2000 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

So good. Other aged rums are good on the rocks but non-aged rums are a lot like moonshine - gets the job done but not in a way you'd be happy with.

YAARRRG!

Oh, all the good booze does for us! Very quick brainstorm:
Red wine - good for the heart, prolongs life endlessly
Cocktails - loaded with vitamines
Madeira - good for coughs, sore throats
Beer - vitamines (B's, if I'm right)
White wine - fat burner
Guess I'll add rum then

I hope your two weeks will be over soon. Gute Besserung!

Trust the German speakers to find the good in alcohol! ;)

Add an aged rum like I said in a comment above - there's a huge taste difference when you drink it neat or on the rocks.

Whoa. Wayne's World flashback!
I'm nearly to the bottom of my huge Costco bottle of Meyer's. I forget which fancy-pants stuff I'm supposed to get and drink with an orange slice. It happens that I'm going to a booze shop that just might have it on the way home.

Hiya - if you can pick up a Cruzan Single Barrel Rum, you're in for a treat.

I like it with a thick slice of a sweet navel orange over rocks.

Otherwise, the Pyrat that veijukka mentioned and the 12 year Montecristo are both very good too.

Gosh, all right. Send me your address and I'll send you some soup! (And it won't even be ramen!!!) 'Course, by the time it gets there, you'll probably be well, but that's not quite the point.

Ever had Pyrat rum? (Pronouced Pier-at, not pirate.)

There's this song I love that's got the most ridiculous name ever called Laß mich dein Pirat sein, which basically means, Let me be your pirate.

Anyway, the Germans pronounce it that way pier-at, so I'm assuming it's an Austrian or German rum. Germans tend to drink
Rumverschnitt which is literally, cut rum, or a cheaper type of rum but I've had Pyrat Rum XO Reserve, which is kick-ass aged rum that rocks on the...rocks.

Hmmmm...

I'm not sure...I know it's made by Patron Spirits, like the Patron tequilas, from Caribbean rums...

I'll check out that song when I get home.

Nena...

Nice etymological try - but I guess it's todo americano, señor :)

I could go for some real good aged unblended rum just now. I'm headed for Spanish class the first time in two months with no homework done. It'll be one laugh.

Try a Mai Tai, it's a good rum based chick drink.

What kind of camera do you have?

I have an Canon SD600. It's a lil to big to carry around and if I stick it in my pocket it looks like I have an erection that's rectangular.

....

I didn't know that rum was so good for you. I will have to drink more on my weekend excursions.

Good times.

Most of my pics are taken with a Canon PowerShot SD600 but lately, I've been trying to play around with my new camera, Fiona.

The only problem is that I'm too swamped to sit down and learn all the things I need to learn with it.

Yes, I'm here the preach the gospel of rum for one and all. Don't drink it neat or on the rocks unless it's an aged rum, at least 2 years. Otherwise, it's not so tasty (I've developed a taste for un-aged dark rum, but, then again, I don't sleep much).

You can't just give a man virtual soup and expect him to virtually eat it.

What kind of soup is it?
What's in it?
Does it go well with rum?

These are things a man must know before he just takes any ole soup...

(Reply to this) (Parent)(Thread)

HAHAHAHA

It's chicken noodle soup with thyme.
I guess rum would go well with it...
Or, you should just drink lots of rum which will kill the bacteria or virus that you have and you'll feel better! ;P

But being Chinese, I shouldn't have sent you chicken soup since you should have chicken if you have a cold...but I couldn't find pictures of a good soup that didn't have chicken in it.
